UUID Decoder — free online tool

You copied a UUID from a database or a log, and now you're staring at a long string of letters and dashes wondering what it actually is. Which version is it? Does it hide a date inside? We added a free tool that tells you — UUID Decoder — right in your browser.

What it does

Paste any UUID and it figures out the version and the variant for you. If it's a version 1 or version 7 UUID, it goes a step further and reads the timestamp and the node baked into it, so you can see when it was made without doing any math yourself.

Nothing leaves your device

The whole thing runs inside your browser. The UUID you paste is read right there on your machine — nothing is uploaded to a server, and nothing is saved anywhere. When you close the tab, it's gone.

How to use it

  1. Open UUID Decoder and paste your UUID into the box.
  2. Read the version and variant it shows you.
  3. For a v1 or v7 UUID, check the decoded time and node it pulled out.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
