Table of Contents Generator — free online
You wrote a long article or a help page, and now you want readers to jump straight to the part they need. Building that little list of links by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. We added a free tool that does it for you — Table of Contents Generator — right in your browser.
What it does
You paste your content as HTML or Markdown, and it gives you back a full table of contents with every link ready to click. It also adds an anchor ID to each heading, so the links actually scroll to the right place when someone uses them.
Nothing leaves your device
The whole thing runs inside your browser. Your text is not uploaded anywhere and nothing is saved on a server. You can paste a private draft and close the tab when you're done — it simply disappears.
How to use it
- Open Table of Contents Generator and paste your HTML or Markdown into the box.
- Let it build the table of contents and the anchor IDs for your headings.
- Copy the result and drop it into your page.
It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
