Readability Checker — free online tool

You write something, read it back, and it feels fine to you. But will a stranger get it on the first try, or stumble halfway through? It's hard to judge your own words. We added a free tool that checks it for you — Readability Checker — right in your browser.

What it does

Paste your text and it scores the readability right away. You get the Flesch Reading Ease number, the Flesch-Kincaid grade level, and a Gunning Fog estimate, so you can see at a glance whether your writing reads light and clear or heavy and dense.

Nothing leaves your device

The whole thing runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded to a server and nothing is saved anywhere. When you close the tab, it's gone — so even a private draft or a work email is safe to check.

How to use it

  1. Open Readability Checker and paste your text into the box.
  2. Read the scores it shows you.
  3. Tweak the long sentences and big words, then check again until it reads easy.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
