Random Sample Picker — free online tool

Say you're running a giveaway and you need to pick a few winners from a long list of names. Doing it by hand feels unfair, and writing a formula in a spreadsheet is more trouble than it's worth. We added a free tool that does it — Random Sample Picker — right in your browser.

What it does

Paste any list or CSV data, tell it how many rows you want, and it draws a random sample for you in a moment. You can pick with or without replacement, so each row shows up once, or can be drawn again. It's handy for giveaways, picking a test group, or just grabbing a fair handful of rows from a big file.

Nothing leaves your device

The whole thing runs in your browser. Your list isn't uploaded anywhere, and nothing is saved on a server. When you close the tab, it's gone. Your names and data stay with you.

How to use it

  1. Open Random Sample Picker and paste your list or CSV into the box.
  2. Choose how many rows to draw, and whether to allow the same row twice.
  3. Copy the random sample and use it wherever you need it.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
