Image Optimizer — free online tool

Big photos make a page slow to load, and most of them are far heavier than they need to be. You don't want to install editing software just to shrink one picture. We added a free tool that does it — Image Optimizer — right in your browser.

What it does

Drop in an image, set the maximum width and the quality you want, and pick a format. You get back a compressed, web-ready file that's much smaller. On top of that, it hands you a ready-to-paste CSS or HTML embed snippet, so you can drop the image straight into your page.

Nothing leaves your device

The whole thing runs in your browser. Your image is never uploaded to a server and nothing is saved anywhere. When you close the tab, it's gone — the picture stays on your own computer the entire time.

How to use it

  1. Open Image Optimizer and drop your image onto it.
  2. Set the max width, the quality, and the format you want.
  3. Download the compressed file, or copy the ready CSS or HTML snippet.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
