HTML Entities Encoder & Decoder — free online

You paste some text into a web page and suddenly the quotes, the arrows and the ampersands turn into strange codes like & or <. Or you get a snippet full of those codes and you just want to read the plain text again. We added a free tool that handles both ways — HTML Entities — right in your browser.

What it does

It encodes or decodes HTML entities. Paste normal text and it turns the special characters into safe HTML codes, or paste the codes and it turns them back into readable text. You pick the direction, and that's it.

Nothing leaves your device

The whole thing runs in your browser. Your text is never uploaded to a server and nothing is saved anywhere. When you close the tab, it's gone. You can even use it offline once the page has loaded.

How to use it

  1. Open HTML Entities and paste your text into the box.
  2. Choose encode or decode.
  3. Copy the result.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
