Hash Generator — free online MD5 & SHA

Sometimes you just need the hash of a bit of text. Maybe you're checking a file matches, storing a fingerprint, or following a guide that says "paste the SHA-256 here" and you have no idea where to get one. We added a small tool that does it — Hash Generator — right in your browser.

What it does

Type or paste any text and it gives you the MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 and SHA-512 of it, all at once. The hashes update as you type, so there's no button to hunt for and nothing to wait on.

Nothing leaves your device

Everything happens in your browser, on your own machine. Your text isn't uploaded anywhere and nothing is saved. Close the tab and it's gone, which is exactly what you want when the text is something private.

How to use it

  1. Open Hash Generator.
  2. Type or paste your text into the box.
  3. Copy the hash you need — MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256 or SHA-512.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
