Email Subject Line Counter — free online
You write a great subject line, hit send, and then notice the most important part got chopped off in the inbox. Gmail, Outlook and phones all cut subject lines at different points, so it's easy to lose the words that make someone open your email. We added a free tool that helps with exactly this — Email Subject Line Character Counter — right in your browser.
What it does
You type or paste your subject line and it counts the characters and words as you go. It also shows you exactly where Gmail, Outlook and other email apps will cut it off, so you can see at a glance whether your key words make it through or get hidden behind the dots.
Nothing leaves your device
The whole thing runs in your browser. Your subject line isn't uploaded anywhere and nothing is saved. When you close the tab, it's gone.
How to use it
- Open Email Subject Line Character Counter.
- Type or paste your email subject line into the box.
- Check the character and word count and the cut-off marks, then copy your final subject line.
It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
