Dimensional Weight Calculator — free online

You pack a light item in a big box, and the shipping label costs way more than you expected. That's because carriers don't just charge for what the box weighs — they also charge for how much room it takes up. We added a free tool that works it out for you — Dimensional Weight Calculator — right in your browser.

What it does

You type in your box dimensions and the actual weight. It then shows the dimensional (DIM) weight for UPS, FedEx, or USPS, and tells you which number you'll actually be billed on — because the carrier charges the higher of the two, the actual weight or the DIM weight.

Nothing leaves your device

The whole thing runs inside your browser. Your numbers aren't uploaded anywhere, nothing is stored, and nobody else sees what you enter. Close the tab and it's gone.

How to use it

  1. Open Dimensional Weight Calculator and pick your carrier — UPS, FedEx, or USPS.
  2. Enter the box length, width, height, and the actual weight.
  3. Read the billable weight it shows, and use it to check your shipping cost.

It's free with no limit. There are more small tools on the Apps page.
